Do you need to be connected to the internet?

This may be a stupid question, but is an internet connection required to watch live tv using this software?
I'm using a wintv HVR 900 usb freeview stick. Its all configured and worked just fine when i was connected to the internet, but when disconnected it says "unable to communicate with recording service"

Does anyone know whats wrong here? the computer isnt always connected to the internet so i dont want to always have to be connected.

You do not need to be connected to the internet to use npvr. Most likely, in your case, it is the firewall in windows that is blocking NextPVR.exe from communicating with Nrecord.exe. Try to make an exception for both in your firewall rules and allow them through the firewall.

Edit: Btw, start task manager and check if you have a process called Nrecord running, if not try restarting the recording service.

What he said. NextPVR communicates with the NPVR Recording Service via TCP/IP so they need to be allowed in the firewall.

It really was that simple, bullguard was set to ask me and not allowed straight away
