Hi,

I've got a series recording that i ended up having to cancel and reschedule because NPVR kept cutting off the last 10 minutes or so. Now instead of recording 1 file it records 4.

I think I've killed the series recording now by going to recordings > pending recordings and removing all references to the show. Is this the correct way to remove a series recording?

I find it odd that it would allow repeat series recording that overlap, is it a bug?

Thanks

Are you saying it records multiple copies of the same program? I have this issue with series recordings. It missed some ages go for reasons I never sussed out, so I removed the recurring recording, added it again and now end up with 2 or 3 copies of some shows... I'm guessing removing the recurring recording didn't actually work and its now there twice or more in some cases?

If it's a recurring recording setup through NextPVR, then you need to go to Recordings -> Recurring Recordings and remove the entry from there. That should remove everything that has been set to record through the NextPVR Recurring Recordings logic.

Beware if you use NEWA_AutoSearch.exe and/or the NEWA auto search / auto record logic - recordings which are generated by this are marked as being 'one-off' and NextPVR won't see them as part of a Recurring Recording series - in that case, yes, you need to delete them individually from Pending Recordings.

My advice would be to check the NEWA / NEWA_AutoSearch settings (if any), then go to Recurring Recordings and remove the entry for that TV show, then delete any that remain in the Pending Recordings list.

Cheers,
Brian

I did remove my problematic recurring recordings from the Recordings->Recurring Recordings screens and have then re added, but still get multiple copies of these recorded. Seems they weren't really removed.

I don't think that sub considers it a bug because it has worked this way for a while now.

Sure but considering with a few seemingly innocent clicks I'm using 4x the amount of HDD space to store 4 copies of the show I'd say that's problematic.

From memory this is what I did:
1. made series recording of a show for a channel
2. when series recording was cutting off the end of the show i adjusted the system default pre and post padding.
3. cancelled the recording in the guide
4. made a new series recording in the guide.

What I'd suggest here is that if I cancel recording a show in the guide (point 3), that it give the option to cancel the recurring recording as well should any exist for that show.

Ah, that explains it. I was curious as to what was causing your problem.

I think there's two aspects to this - firstly I think your suggestion would be useful but as an option that could be disabled (some people might find it annoying or an inconvenience). Secondly, the fact you were able to create a duplicate recurring recording seems like a bug to me. It would be better if it gave a popup warning and the option to replace / update the existing one. Over to sub on both points.

Agreed, good point.

DopeFishhh explains well roughly what I did too and now have some recording 3 or 4 times. I cancelled a series recording after one week something failed to record, then set another series record from the guide. For example, I have the F1 races set to record but for some unknown reason it missed one, so I cancelled the series recording (from the recurring recording screen) and set it up again from the guide. It shouldn't be possible to have duplicate recurring recording... or as you say, it should warn you. Granted I prefer it recording 3 times than missing it though! Smile

Yep, it should at least warn you. I'll try to remember to add this for the next release.
