Hello

I have a problem with the Picture library which becomes slow and then unusable, and when i activate the taskmanager i can see a lot of excessive memory usage, for instance when i have started nextpvr it says that it is using 59mb, but after leafing through a few hundred photos the memory usage soars to 800mb, so i'm guessing there's a memory leak somewhere in NPVR (that would also be consistent with the programs behaviour of getting slower).
This is a problem i have noticed in earlier versions of NPVR and it might be related to this issue as well:

On another note, is it possible to disable the thumbnail generator thats running in the background? That can also slow things down considerably the first time i view a directory, but it doesn't affect the problem mentioned above.

cheers
uffe

Nothing really springs to mind, but I'll put it on my list to try to investigate for the next release.

I would look at lists of objects (images?) that are never released, thats usually what holds a reference to objects in memory, preventing .net from freeing them.

Just a gentle bump to this thread, since i can see that it is still a problem in version 2.4.3.

Cheers

Are you finding you actually have to view the photos for the problem to happen, or is simply viewing the preview icons enough to cause the problem?

No i have to view the photos, but it is really easy to recreate. Just flip through 30-40 photos (5mb jpgs) with the task manager on top and you should be able to see a steady increase in memory consumption, i reach 800 mb usage already after 40 photos and it doesn't come down when switching back into file preview mode.

Hi.
I can confirm this issue, at last on WinXP.
BTW, can it be connectet with VMR9 custom renderer? Becouse .NET crash window mentioned it...

It looks like that decoded images remained in system RAM. RAM is cleaned just when i close nPVR.

It is time to move to Win7 - just waiting for FM2 motherboard for A10 5700 APU Smile

I get the slowdown and eventual crash on Win7/EVR.

Has there been any progress with this?
