It might be worth playing with.

There are also web-config.xml settings to set NEWA to transcode live tv rather than stream it....instructions are in the change log (on statistics page) under build 1.22. This still uses the VLC plugin like streaming does. I didn't have too much luck with the transcoding being consistent. Using the NEWA stream option that utilizes VLC transcoding on the server provides better results.

Is there an MX Player alternative or iOS? I have VLC Streamer installed but couldn't find the option to manually input an address. Thanks.

qoute: If you've upgraded to npvr 2.3.6 there's a new url you can try which allows setting resolution and bitrate.

Example...
Code:
[url]http://server_ip:8866/transcode?channel=1&resolution=720x406&bitrate=900k
It might be worth playing with.

I'm running npvr 2.5.9
when i input this url in vlc 2.0.2 on windows 7 home premium, an interactive message box pops up. when i click on the message an ffmpeg command windows opens apparently ready for inputting commandline instructions. Any help would be appreciated. Will play with this tomorrow. and check if h264/mp4 encoding is broken still in vlc. may need to use oog/vorbis as in old versions encapsulated in mpeg ts. also should be able to add &fps=10 to transcoding url and may need to go with &bitrate=900kbs as proper syntax.

I'm running vplayer on galaxy tab with 2.3.5 gingerbread. vplayer plays hd while set to high speed w hw decoding set and no buffer. but jitters a bit on 1920x1080 @ 16800kbs content like cbs. plays 704x480 @ 8800kbs just fine from THIS Channel and other SD channel or hd at slower rates up to 13300kbs. i use mediainfo.exe program (google it) on temp file to get encoder info.. so i think transcoding will work for hd content if i can properly set ffmpeg permanently or at least every time if i can find commandline instructions. hope i dont have to name temp file each startup and destination.

The url above has nothing to do with VLC.....that is implemented by sub and uses FFMPEG to transcode.
