NextPVR has stopped wokring...

I had a BSOD yesterday and after restarting NPVR will not run. The moment I start the .exe I get a windows popup saying "NextPVR has stopped working":

I've tried reinstalling it, uninstalling it and reinstalling again yet nothing will make the .exe run. Ive also let windows install a stack of updates, which included a service pack, which made no difference. It's win7 x64... Any ideas? The rest of the machine seems fine, everything else seems to run. Anything I can do? Or is it reinstall windows and start from scratch time?? With the Euro's on I'll be extremely unpopular if I dont get it working in time for the Ireland game later!!:confused:

Have you tried starting with a fresh database? It seems you have tried everything else so there must be something wrong in npvr.db3 (remember backup first).

I would say the first thing you need to understand is why you got a BSOD. Check windows event viewer for any errors. You might have a disk error.
Consider doing a windows system restore to roll back to an earlier point (when it worked).

Else, as reddwarf suggested, you might need to try a clean install with an empty database. (install, rename c:\users\public\pnvr folder) and reinstall. This will obviously wipe all settings but may give a clue to where the problem lies and if you have renamed your original npvr folder, you can still go back to your previous config)

FWIW: I just used NEWA to setup 2 x auto records to catch all the live games ("Euro 2012 Live" and "Match of the Day Live" in the subtitle). Not that this helps you atm.

Thanks for the above - yes, removing the DB (well, the whole public\NPVR folder - I did of course back it up ) and reinstalling has done the trick in that the GUI now runs. I assume I'm screwed trying to get any of the old config back and basically need to setup from scratch? Scan channels, number, do the EPG, devices etc...?

You'll have to scan and setup channels, epg etc, but you should be able to import the recordings from the recording- and recurring backup .xml files in your old folder.

Thanks. Certainly pleased not to be installing windows too! Will only bother with the useful freesat and irish DTT channels for now.
