3 thru 8 are long overdue...
5 sounds like only tricky one, most of others are installer issues..[simple?]
9 is undoable as the gui is how you access server settings screen.

that said, nice release, i appreciate the archive, import and multi-rec dirs...

9. would actually be do able if Sub wanted to because the config is context menu's in Gui, and not in the viewer part of NPVR.

Seperating would allow you to run the recording service and npvr as a service more easily because it doesn't need desktop interaction. Also when you have a machine set up to run services with priority and take away resources from the Desktop Apps, it affects NPVR.

Recording Service
Web Server Service
NPVR Server Service
Gui that controls the services and edits the settings.
Clients Attache to the NPVR Server service.

It would be great!

It's unlikely you'll be able to stream all media files from the server's video library though. The reality is that when you're talking about any files that are non-.ts, then people use a huge variety of different directshow filters for playing these files, written by all sorts of companies and non-commercial projects, and the majority of these are only capable of reading directly from the local file system and have no hooks for applications to provide the data from it's own source (like streamed from a NextPVR server).

I understand and my stance on the streaming every video, is basicly if FFMPEG/PLAY can't do it, then let it be IMOP.

Now back to the network DB vs fileshare DB.
I understand it's a low priortiy, but let me elaborate on the reasoning behind it.
I am at work and I would like to use the NPVR Client interface as a placeshifter/slingbox type client, but I can't because it requires SMB access to the DB
So my thinking was networked DB, or wrap the db calls into the streaming protocol you use and it would go toward enabling this type of functionality.

You can already use NEWA for watching your recordings or live tv from work. It's just web pages and streaming.

I know that and have been using it.
But It won't work with a TV like and ION box at home will. I could just load up and ion box with the NPVR client and have it go over the net to get to the server and stream, and have a remote control and so forth.
