Recurring Recordings - multiple pending individual recordings?

It seems like when I add in a recurring recording NPVR goes in and adds in a whole slew of individual pending recordings for each date/time where it will record. Is this how it's supposed to work? Will NPVR continuously add in the new dates/times as it goes (I have it set to record forever but to only keep 8 recordings).

It makes it kind of difficult to manage since the pending recordings screen ends up with a TON of items as does NEWA.

It is doing what it is designed to do.

There are a ton of recordings in the Pending Recordings screen because you have a ton of pending recordings.

It creates additional pending recordings every time that the EPG is updated. You could have fewer pending recordings if you loaded fewer days into the EPG.

Thanks Graham. I guess my issue is it seems to be inconsistent. I have gone ahead and added a bunch of shows as recurring (some of them start in the future). For one of the shows I see all the upcoming pending recordings. None of the others seem to have any pending recordings?

I'm not doing anything in the EPG. How can I control the number of days loaded into the EPG. All my recurring recordings are manual (I put in the start date, times, and when to recur).

Ooops! I have never used manual recurring recordings so I may be wrong regarding the EPG.

Most of us import EPG data from somewhere ... over the air works in lots of countries (tho' not so good in the US we hear), or Schedules Direct in the US or using XMLTVGUI in the UK.

I can record, say, News at Ten from the Guide by clicking it in the Guide and telling NPVR to record a show with this name, on this channel, at this time every day (or whatever).

Apologies if I am teaching you to suck eggs.

Graham - thanks for the help. The OTA guide is not great here. I am going to use SD, when I schedule using the guide, it behaves consistently and creates the pending recordings, as expected. The only annoyance is the guide data is only available a week in advance, not the end of the world, though.
