I have a dual tuner, TBS6280, that has 2 tuners. So it appears as 2 devices under NextPVR, tuner A and tuner B.

I notice that all the schedules make use of Tuner A for all the recording. I'm kinda worried about the asymmetric usage, and would like to ask if there is a way to spread out the usage to be roughly equal load on the 2 tuners?

I thought of a way, and that is to remove the channel list on Tuner A occasionally, but other than that, what can I do?

Thanks in advance. Smile

You cant tell it to use a specific device for a recording. The application always works it's way down the device list, looking for the first available device with the specified channel.

if you use livetv much, you can tick the "reverse priority for live tv" box, so it'll use tuner B whenever you watch live. You could also just change the order of the tuners from time to time (click the bottom tuner, then click the "Up" bottom to make it the top tuner). But I'm really wondering why this is something to worry about?

Dunno, probably I'm paranoid, lol. I suppose if Tuner A spoils the whole tuner card will spoil also. But I will try the changing of the order of the tuners, thanks. Smile

oh, I should mention, after switching tuner order nothing will change until the next epg update. also, single recordings (that is, not automatically generated from a season/recurring recording request) will remain on whatever tuner they were scheduled on.

You could allocate different channels to each tuner thereby forcing them to share the load?

For example I have one tuner responsible for the BBC channels and another one for ITV/Channel 4.

You could also assign them slightly different names, ie 1-ITV for ITV on tuner number one, 2-ITV on tuner 2 etc.
