Support other hardware decoders and other filters

Sub, I've been wondering recently if it might someday in the future be possible for us to "plug-in" our own filters by specifiying them in a config file or something, similar to the way they are specified for the BDA digital cards? There are tons of cheap MPEG2 hardware decoders out there(many of them in the Cardbus form factor for laptops), audio codecs(especially MP3), and other effects filters. I've seen other programs allow optional filters, and they allow configuration of the filter by simply opening the filter's own properties dialog for the user to configure. I'm sure you're familiar with the idea.... What's your take on this? Is it something that is even possible to do?

No, I have no plans for this.

I highly doubt it would be possible. The three decoders I already support required so much specialist logic to be created, that couldnt be done in a generic way. There is no standard interfaces for hardware decoders, and they're all very very different from each other. Most dont even support directshow.
