I suspect that the problem is a UAC conflict as Martin mentioned in the other thread. Moving it out of the Program Files directory would solve that. It shouldn't matter if it's in C:\EPG or D:\MC2XML

You shouldn't even need to actually move the executable, just the output file:

Code:
"C:\Program Files\mc2xml.exe" -d 168 -o "C:\EPG\TVGUIDE.xml"

I haven't tested that though.

Reflecting on this:

I am using XP x64. I don't think it has UAC . I think what happened was:

It started with an mcmxl problem then I stupidly failed to unload, then load the EPG after importing the channels from the large TVGUIDE.xml. I mistakenly thought the EPG would load with the channels

@whurlston: That might have been part of The_Keymaker's problems in the other thread, but my folder was never in the Program Files directory. This only confirms that the code suggested in the User Manual doesn't work. I am using Vista 32-bit.

@richardcoop2: After replacing your UpdateEPG.bat file and changing the folder name, I presume that you had to remap the channels next, is that correct?

I should have said that the code suggested in the User Manual doesn't work with NPVR version 2.5.9 (and/or current version of mc2xml). It might have worked with earlier versions, but I wouldn't know.

@whurlston: Were you saying that output file TVGUIDE.xml must be in a folder named EPG, or did I understand correctly that the folder name doesn't matter as long as UpdateEPG.bat code agrees with it?

Correct. C:\EPG is just kind of the defacto standard that we started using for simplicity/consistency.

I think all I did was go to devices/analog Hauppauge 1600/setup/import C:\epg\TVGUIDE.xml

At least that is what I think I did.
