As the title says. I had one working and one not working so well tuner. I set three back to back shows on the same channel to record (All Shows on Channel, not quick record). Although the shows are back to back NPVR switched tuners at each show. Since there were three the first and third recorded fine by the second did not.

I figure it's probably the pre and post record padding making it do this and I'm not even sure this behavior should be changed. Now that my second capture card is happy again it's not really a problem except that I can see someone watching something else and NPVR will probably swipe the tuner out from them.

Of course I've since changed settings so there's no padding that would cause overlaps.

Ha! This is very closely related to an issue I had a while back (and presumably will continue to have, until sub's willing to invest some considerable time fixing it) where I *wanted* back-to-back shows on the same channel to switch tuners, in order to preserve the padding. This was discussed in this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...s-Colossus

So I guess my question is: How'd you make it switch?

(...and, just out of curiosity, where in BC? I'm in New West, myself.)

I have no idea what I did to make it switch.

But, I removed the padding and it switched anyway - and threw and exception (the wife hit OK and dismissed it before I could cut & paste). The recording is working fine though so its just a UI crash and not NRecord.

The worst part is when NextPVR will start a recording of a different channel on a tuner while 'continuing' the previous recording until it finish. In fact this kill the previous recording.
Even with 3 tuners, NextPVR does not handle pre and post roll correctly on the same tuner.

So I have to play with negative minutes in TV Recordings to try to prevent this from happening. Even then, Quick Record ones are tricky to have pre/post padding works. An EPG update seems to reset them. Also you have to program the padding before it start, changing padding in TV Recording during a live recording doesn't work sometimes.

At the moment I have Use background and Use out-of-process digital recording enabled.
Could disabling one of them help? Or change this behaviour?

Mine hops my 2 tuners too. I suppose:

a) wouldn't this be proper? If padding is in play, it is there so you don't lose the last 3 minutes of a show that gets stuck into the beginning of the next show. For purely recordings, I think this is proper. However:

b) what I really hate is when I'm watching LiveTV on a tuner, a recording is in progress on the other, and then another recording show is coming up. The padding kicks in and I'm booted off LiveTV effectively MISSING the last minutes of what I'm watching. Forever. Guess I'll never know whodunnit. In this case, I'd prefer it behaves the other way and the recording tuner continues on if the only other one available is in LiveTV mode.

2 cents.

Are these analog tuners? I have four digital tuners and I can see that BTB shows are recorded on the same tuner honouring post- and pre padding without problems.
