I saw this listed on another posting as an advantage for using XBMC as a frontend.

It guess I had always taken for granted that NPVR was buffering, but this statement would imply that it is not.

My client machine is connected via 300Mbit Wireless N and is generally rock solid. Occasionally I am kicked back to the Recordings menu with no resume option however. I suppose this could be the result of momentary wireless interference. If playback was buffered, I would likely not even notice.

Are there any plans to add buffered playback for NextPVR clients?

I have been playing with xbmc and while it definitely has a fancier UI, most of our time is spent simply watching NextPVR recordings. With xbmc, we haven't had any of the same behavior where NextPVR client playback will stop unexpectedly and kick us back to the menu. I am inclined to believe that this is because of the buffered playback in xbmc. One of the trade-offs however is comskip which works very well in NextPVR. If NextPVR had similar buffering capabilities I would likely drop xbmc in a heartbeat and just go back to using the NPVR client.

PS. My logs are attached here

Thanks, MIKE

There is already buffering that occurs on the client.

The unexpected stopping is some bug that was reported recently that I haven't had a chance to investigate yet.
