Just did a fresh install of npvr yesterday on a win8 64 PC. Everything worked fine except I don't get a picture, just the audio. Going to the Decoders tab in Settings, it only gives me the disabled option which suggests no codecs.

However I check codecs and I do have Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder version 12.0.9200.16429 installed and is listed in the WMP settings.

I checked the log and I do have errors stating npvr cannot find decoders (see attachment)

So I have Decoders installed that other applications can use fine, but npvr can't. Any suggestions?

Thanks. That's potentially saved me from a lot of frustration. Very selfish policy of MS.

To use Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder you will need the patch:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post454973
TBS6285 PCI-E DVB-T2/T/C Quad Tuner Card (This is a bad card, I have so many problems with it)
TBS6281 PCI-E DVB-T2/T/C Dual Tuner Card
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2200 PCI-E

The patch is for W7. MS decoders are no go in W8.

I recommend that you send a forum private message to Hoborg and ask for the unlocked SAF ... http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post414049

The unpatched 2.6.2 could not select the MS decoder but the patched version could.

Ooops! Sorry. I was sure that everybody had been saying for months that MS W8 decoders never work in third party apps. Perhaps the patch irons out a kink that prevented the MS W8 decoders working with NextPVR.

Current Patch 2 enables use of the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder for H.264 video, which should take care of any HD channels that rb_stretch can receive. However it is to no avail with respect to MPEG2 video, which I believe is still used by your DVB-T channels. (Also won't help with AC3 audio, but rb_stretch reports no audio problems so that format probably isn't used in the UK.) SAF6 might still be needed.

Just back from work. Thanks for all the responses so far. I will PM Hoborg (presumably to get the unlocked versions)
