I'm new to nvpr. Just purchased and installed Hauppauge 2250 tuner. I have 2.6.2 installed in my XP computer. Video seems to work O.K., but the audio only lasts for 30 seconds after starting to watch a channel. There may be other issues, (such as the tv guide not working correctly), but would like to get the audio working first. Any help would be appreciated. ronjaw

Hi ronjaw, sounds like a problem with audio renderer or decoder (Settings/Decoders). First of all make sure audio renderer is set to Default. While watching a channel, you can determine what audio format is involved by right-clicking and moving mouse pointer to Audio Stream. For digital channels (ATSC or QAM) the format is almost certainly AC3. For analog cable channels (or analog output from a box) the format should be MPEG1. You can use Microsoft's decoder for MPEG1 audio, but it won't support third-party applications for AC3. If you have WinTV installed, be sure to try Hauppauge's AC3 decoder. It might prove necessary to download a decoder such as AC3Filter (http://www.ac3filter.net/), which is what I'm using.

Zeb, I downloaded and installed the AC3 filter you recommended and it worked!

Thank you very much.

Now I have to figure out how to "map" the channels and use all the extra plug-ins.

Glad you solved that. I'm afraid it's been months since I mapped my channels, and bulk mapping wasn't working at that time so I ended up doing it one channel at a time. I assume you're using an XMLTV source such as SchedulesDirect or mc2xml. Assuming you have already grabbed an XMLTV file, you go to Settings/Channels (not directly to Channels which is just a list), select the first channel, click on Details, select Source, then when Mapping appears select the proper listing and click OK. Then click Bulk Map and hopefully the rest will be mapped automatically. Here's the Wiki page on channel mapping:

Get all parts of the base NPVR working properly before trying plug-ins. If you have a problem with plug-ins installed, we will tell you to remove the plug in so we can see what the problem is. Smile Plug-ins rely on a working NPVR, so take it one step at a time.
