HDHomerun Direct Streaming

I am not sure if there is any demand but I've just added support for my own use for direct streaming of live tv without timeshifting from HDHR devices, bypassing NextPVR and any server load. NextPVR continues to provide the EPG. Here is a sample with 720p and 1080i streams (over wifi) http://youtu.be/ySdXwEDPeSk and the playback speed seems quite good.

I could polish up the code for release if anyone is interested.

Ok, it has been working pretty well for me. Could you upload you npvr.db3, I'm working on a utility to make it easier to use.

I think this is a great feature too!! I just started messing with XBMC and NextPVR as a potential replacement for my SageTV boxen, which I have been running since 2003.
LiveTV Streaming while bypassing the DVR is brilliant. Please develop this more.

I'd love to see you finish up your code. It could certainly solve a few of my issues. And hopefully a lot of time. I'm also trying to migrate from SageTV, 2 HDhomerun Primes, a house full of girls and computers and trying to keep things centralized.
Would this also be available from outside the local LAN?

It's pretty much ready I haven't been rushing because I am using a pre-release of NextPVR. The Direct Streaming will cause some problems since I leave any locking to the user. I don't bother adding one tuner to NextPVR to use it.

Technically yes, but the direct streaming will require a lot of bandwidth, my ATSC tops out just under 20Mbs and my upload is capped at 3MBs so not even SD is possible. As a an alternate to direct streaming there is a transcoding option in NEWA that X-NEWA users.

Using the HDTC I confirmed that you can do do direct live TV streaming using any of the transcoding profiles so it would be a pretty good device to connect to from outside a local LAN using either the web client or general X-NEWA interface.

After reading this development http://kodi.tv/addon-spotlight-hdhomerun-live-tv/ for live tv playback it would be interesting to hear from some American users interested in trying to get this integrated with web client or x-newa.

Tried it, but it does not support my ATSC older version. But I am quite happy with X-New especially with the low res problem being fixed lately.

Direct mode can support the old devices too. I've used it with the HDHR3 for a view years. That reminds me that I have to release the new version of x-newa for 3.4.8
