I am looking to upgrade from using Media Center to a combination of NPVR and XBMC but I am having problems getting the tuner to work in NPVR. I have a Blackgold BGT3650 Quad HD Tuner installed which works fine with Freeview signals under Media Centre.

When I go through the setup procedure the tuners are all listed but when I attempt to scan for channels I just get the message "Unable to start device: Device failed to start"

I have made sure that Media Center is not running at the time, but I don't really want to uninstall it completely just yet until I have the new setup working.

I have also installed all the patches as recommended in the sticky.

The machine is running Windows 7 Pro 64bit, Intel i5 quad 3.1Ghz, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 1GB Video Card. The only other software on the machine is Sophos Anti Virus, Cyberlink PowerDVD (which is useless for Blu-ray which is why I want to move to XBMC), AnyDVD(HD), XBMC, Unified Remote, PC Remote.

Please help...

SQLite errors are beyond me, but Elmo Putney's last thread was remarkably similar: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...wont-start

[Edit] If you're using driver version 9.0.0.2 Beta, then bugs would not be surprising.

ahah, this is interesting it does sound very familiar.

I was using the std driver on win7 x64 - what do you see in the device list in NPVR?

Hi Elmo. Bugs would also not be surprising if you're using a driver that's no longer listed under "Current Drivers" for 36XX models at the Blackgold website. Did you revert to NextPVR 2.5.9 again?

If worbinks' device list matches his NPVR.log, then it might be different from the screenshot you posted on May 16:

I'm on driver :8.1.1.2 which is the version prior to the beta which they just put up.

That list of devices is what I managed to get to eventually after an uninstall/re-install of the device following upgrading npvr, but none of them scanned

http://forums.gbpvr.com/attachment.php?a...1369135014

Interesting that the type and device name do not match for some of the tuners.

In case worbinks hasn't been completely scared away (at least he has Windows 7 Media Center to fall back on), it should be noted that a new version of NextPVR will soon be available, and will use Microsoft .NET 4.0 rather than 2.0. I don't know exactly when, but it's probably rather late in the game to troubleshoot the BGT-3650 for version 2.6.2.

If you're interested in giving version 2.5.9 a try, I'm sure someone could help you if you would post again. 2.5.9 is no longer posted for download: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ober-2012) although its patches are: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...arted-info

It should be noted that you would not be able to use the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder for H.264 (i.e. for HD DVB-T2 channels) under 2.5.9, at least not if you have installed Internet Explorer 10 or even KB2670838 (2/26/2013). Current Patch 2 is for version 2.6.2; but you could get another H.264 decoder by installing SAF6 "unlocked" if necessary.
