OK, it's kind of related to another thread I had a long time ago but with a slight difference.

setup:
two set top boxes
hauppauge hvr 1800 - s video input
hauppauge hd-pvr - component input
hauppauge mc receiver and remote
two blasters
using LM Gestion remote
mc2xml for the epg data

Here's my problem: I grab a whole bunch of channels that are not necessarily in sequential order and when NPVR grabs them it assigns random channel numbers to them. Shouldn't it get the channel number form the xml file? I see that one of the entries is just the channel number. Otherwise I'd have to manually assign over 100 channels? There's got to be a better way.

In my other thread the idea was that it separates the analog from the HD but in this scenario it doesn't even get the analog channels correct. It assigns a channel number sequentially and doesn't take notice of the required channel to blast.

On another note, I'm going to replace the hvr 1800 with a colossus which means now I'll have two ir blasters. I only want to use one of the blasters, will the blaster software always pick the same one?

When you add the analog device you tell it the physical channel. When the table is first created I think they go in correctly but when you just add a new one NextPVR puts these in the channel table in its own order, but you can change the display channel in the channel setup. It's probably easiest to delete them if you want to add hundreds.

For the colossus Rogers does use HDCP so you can't use HDMI.

it's not the display number that's the problem...it's the actual channel number that it blasts!

I'm not even adding an new one (well technically I am). I deleted the old analog tuner first so that there were no more tuners used. I then added the hdpvr and told it to import the xmltv file. It started with channel 1 when there wasn't any and went on up from there disregarding the channel number. In this case because I didn't tell it to download all the channels the further up the channel list it went the further out of wack it was. In Ottawa there are two listings for channels like 24 due to the bilingual law so even if I downloaded all the channels and delete i would still have to manually change the channel number.

I think I'm going to have to suck it up and manually change the channels.

As for the Colossus I'll be using component. I've only got a 32 inch TV so i won't be missing much.

Last night after an EPG update for some reason NPVR reset all the channels and is now following the proper channel numbers for blasting. I think the problem was that I didn't have my blaster executable and arguments set before importing the xmltv data.

for example now I get:
channel number = 2
channel name =2 TVO
source = component (parameters ........{blaster executable with arguments})

whereas before I used to get:
channel number = 1
channel name =2 TVO
source = component

Since I have an analog tuner + hdpvr I get two entries for each channel but now I can bulk remap and it should fix it.

I don't know if this is a bug but it should be noted somewhere.

Now to install the Colossus.
