The update to JB was official. Before the update, it worked for your 1st release of nDroid but same problems after subsequent releases.

I have just tried it using BlueStacks Android emulator and have exactly the same problem. I try to connect but I see the log files are not changing size or dates.

Apologies if I am stating the bleedin' obvious ... I have just fixed my nDroid by correcting the IP address in nDroid settings on the phone.

I did wonder about that but in the first post he says he's tried clearing the app data and also uninstalling/reinstalling several times so I'd be surprised if he's putting the wrong network info in every time.

Yep I am putting in the correct url or IP address. As I mentioned earlier, it is fine on a Galaxy Note 2. Furthermore, putting in random urls and IP addresses still gives me the spinning circle on the a background of the Android robot, I don't receive any warnings of failure to connect in nDroid but with nDroid TE I do receive the error I mentioned earlier (after a few minutes of it trying to connect). Bluestacks Android emulator is the same too. So whether I input the correct url or IP address or any random url or IP address, I receive the same issues - nothing picked up at the server end.

I can only think that this issue is with Optimus 4x HD or there may be some clash with another app. I will try a fresh install of BlueStacks and see if it works (at the moment, my BlueStacks has the apps from my Optimus phone synchronized).

Somewhere along the way I changed the "first run" download code to make it more efficient and it seems I broke the bit which is supposed to provide a popup saying it can't connect. I've just been reviewing the v1.9.0 code and it just drops out leaving the download screen showing - I've no idea how I let that one slip.

nDroid TE does, at least, report an error but I'm surprised it's taking so long for it to appear. Before it does anything network related it does a very simple HTTP GET request to check the status of the server / service - in theory the time-out on that should be 30 seconds.

To be honest using an emulator may just add extra complications and confuse the issue. Anything network-related when using emulators and trying to communicate with a service running on the same machine may require special port-forwarding or routing.

I'm going to do a full review of the networking code on TE tonight and will also add a Cancel button to the download screen which will popup a dialog to allow users to email the logcat data to me.

Cheers,
Brian

Now fails on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 after I uninstalled and reinstalled nDroid. Exactly the same symptoms as on the LG Optimus. I did have it working on my LG Optimus 4x in the past. It seems like uninstalling and reinstalling breaks it completely.

Sorry but I really can't see the logic behind that.

Bearing in mind when I'm developing I'll push out several versions to my Desire and Nexus 7 over BlueTooth in the space of a couple of hours and also have to uninstall if I'm replacing a debug version with a release version (or vice versa - it's not possible to update from one to the other).

All I can suggest is make sure your npvr web credentials match those you use for the ndroid service and make sure they're the same for the nDroid app. If it still fails, turn your firewall off temporarily.

I see you joined the pre-release testers group - install v2.0.9 and see what happens. The logcat output is dumped to a file on the sdcard in Android/data/uk.co.beetec.nDroidTE/files directory - zip it and attach.

Cheers,
Brian
