Put this card in and so far have been able to get it to detect a single ATSC tuner for it. My understanding was that it could record and play simultaneously.

Attached a copy of my filtercheck log(I do have another single tuner ATI 650 PCI in the system also, accounting for the other ATSC tuner it can see)

I think the 650 Pro "Dual Tuner" means 1 analog tuner, 1 digital tuner which can be used at the same time. I don't think it means 2 digital tuners.

As johnson said. My two (PCI and PCI-e) have a digital tuner and an analog tuner. I'm not even sure both digital and analog tuners on one card can be used at the same time. I don't use the analog these days. There was some discussion years ago that the PCI-e version could work as a dual tuner, i.e., analog and digital simultaneously.

You have 2 entries in the filtercheck log under the BDA_RECEIVER_... entry. My box with one tuner has only one entry, so I think it is seeing both digital tuners.

You can record a program and watch the recording at the same time. Just hit PLAY from the pending or what's new recordings list. Is that what you wanted?

Ahh okay, well I guess it is a good thing I still had my PCI 650 also, can accomplish the same thing with both of them in together I guess. lol.

Out of curiosity what is the cheapest tuner that does dual atsc tuning? Can't really convince my wife to let me get a 2250 yet lol, christmas maybe Wink

That is as a result of the older PCI 650, which yea so long as I don't need to put my wireless NIC back in I can accomplish what I was after by keeping them both in.

The HVR-2250 is definitely your best option.

Yeah it is quickly starting to look like it will become my gift to myself for Christmas lol, or maybe my B-Day/Christmas present since B-Day on the 23rd lol.

The Avermedia Duet is half the price of the 2250, is digital only, but is probably 2/3 the quality. However, mine is pretty good, once they fixed the failure to wakeup problem. I would expect that any you buy now would be OK. Newegg had them on ebay a few weeks ago for $49. Now they are $39.99:
