Alright so I will take the hit, I am a noob when it comes to NextPVR and XBMC. I will try to explain what my goal is, what I have done, and where I am stuck.

I was previously using WMC with 5 Xbox 360s for extenders around the house and I am trying to find something that is more universal for the family. I also want to replace the XBox 360s with something that takes up less power.

I searched and found several different options, but for my purposes, I think that XMBC with NextPVR should work.

I have 3 different Analog or ATSC tuners (some dual) that total up to a 5 tuner system.

In addition I have a Ceton InfitiTV 4 with a cable card. This makes my system a 9 tuner system that WMC seems to be able to handle on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I am able to get all of the tuners going except for, you guessed it, (being a noob) the Ceton device.

I have followed the steps on the wiki and have followed the PDF instructions over and over again.
// Over and over again implies that I uninstalled, and reinstalled both NextPVR and the Ceton Drivers. I found it easier to just replace the npvr.db3 file with a backed up one [C:\Users\Public\NPVR ->(npvr.db3)].

I also have placed the Plugins for the network recorder here:
C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Plugins\NetworkRecorder ->NetworkRecorder.xml
C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Plugins\NextPVR data directory ->NetworkRecorder.dll

Even just trying to get one of the tuners is a pain. But rather than posting a repeating algorithm for 4 tuners, I will just give you a copy of what one looks like.

This is located in the NetworkRecorder.XML file
///////////////////////////////////////////
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<Settings>
<PluginSettings>
<NetworkRecorder>
<FriendlyName>Cable Card 1</FriendlyName>
<SocketOpen>true</SocketOpen>
<RollingFile>true</RollingFile>
<h264Mode>2</h264Mode>
0 - Standard MPEG2
1 - h264 video
2 - h264 video if channel name ends with "HD" ie. CNNHD
<RecordingsReplace>before?after</RecordingsReplace>
<LiveReplace>before?after</LiveReplace>
Replace text "before" in source with "after" in destination filenames. Example <RecordingsReplace>C:\Recordings?\\192.168.1.1\MyRecordings</RecordingsReplace>
<RemoteNPVR>true</RemoteNPVR>
Create Recordings from another NextPVR setup on your local network.
<stream>true</stream>
Use http streaming for NetTarget
<host>127.0.0.1</host>
<port>6970</port>
<delay>2000</delay>
</NetworkRecorder>
</PluginSettings>
</Settings>
///////////////////////////////////////////
The extra lines are in there because NextPVR tends to at least try to work.

When I boot up NextPVR, the tuner(s) show up fine, and I can add channels just fine (kind of), however, after adding a channel, still on the device setup page, under the tuning column, I get "7148 Not defined"

When I try to go to livetv or launch XBMC (already set up with a PVR frontend) I either get "Device is used for recording, exit?" or "Tuner not available" <-XMBC

Again, when I set up the other tuners, I don't get any of these problems.

I have also tried to add all 4 Ceton tuners and have all 4 channels sources, yet the same error. I have stopped all WMC services and I am at a loss here.

I saw on other posts, people suggested that they redo the steps on the PDF; I cannot count how many times I have done that. There has to be something somewhere where I am not including. I do know that my channels are QAM256 and the frequency for any given channel don't seem to match the codec in NextPVR but then again, NetworkRecorders don't access that info anyways, well as far as I know.

Does anyone have ANY advice for my situation of not being able to tune these Ceton tuners?

Thank you,

Paul

If your xml is wrong it will never load, and you copied in the comments on the xml use not the XML file itself. To test it after editing, try to load it in IE before restarting the recording service to avoid messing up the database

Start with this making sure you follow steps 1-6 on when to stop and start the recording service.

Code:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<Settings>
  <PluginSettings>
    <NetworkRecorder>
      <FriendlyName>Cable Card #1</FriendlyName>
      <host>127.0.0.1</host>
      <port>6970</port>
      <delay>5000</delay>
    </NetworkRecorder>
  </PluginSettings>
</Settings>

Martin,

I appreciate your feedback. I have tried several different versions of this .xml and none of them seem to work. Your version has a difference that I have never tried, in that it increases the delay time and adds a # sign in the friendly name. I tried this and it did not seem to work. The .xml i submitted seems to be an advancement and from another post on this forum. Unfortunately I cannot find the link to it at this very point in time but if time allows I will keep searching. Primary and on a semi-ui end, all the additions my .xml does is add a default of h264 when adding a channel. Thus it does load, and even tries to tune into the channel. All other .xml files don't do this and just give me an error telling me that it cannot find the recording device, while the .xml file I submitted shoots back an error that says the tuner is being used for another recording. This led me to believe that the .xml file I submitted was, somewhat, an improvement, over the basic .xml that is in the wiki download as it at least tries to find my device. I am still at a lose right now trying to get this figured out. Any other suggestions?

Stay groovy my friend!

Delete npvr.db3 use my xml and follow steps 1-6 on the wiki

It should load and connect to SageDCT, if not turn on SageDCT logging and send the SageDCT log and NRecord logs trying to play live tv.
