I've recently started using the "NextPVR for Samsung" app, as well as messing around with NEWA. When I open port 8866 in the firewall on the NPVR server both NEWA and the Samsung app are able to connect at first, but eventually the connections get blocked. This happens even if I disable the firewall. If I do a full shutdown on the computer and then restart it, it will usually accept connections for a while.

A couple of days ago I uninstalled Avast from the NPVR server and that seems to have fixed the problem. From my searches on the web, it looks like the Network Shield in Avast might be stopping NPVR from streaming. Has anyone else seen this problem and found a way around it?

Thanks,
pete

I do recall prior issues with Avast posted here. Seems like uninstalling was the reported solution.

AVAST is a PITA with regard to firewall, I changed to Avira and have not had problems since.

It seems strange that Avast interferes with NPVR streaming. I use Avast on another computer that streams music and can even connect to it from outside of my home network without any interference.

In any case, it is definitely Avast causing the problem because I've been able to connect to the server for the last past week.

Thanks for the replies. I'll give Avira a try.

Pete
