Ive have decided to rebuild one of my computers as the motherboard died, and decided this was a good time to update hardware. This issue i am hoping i can work though is not having to set up my NPVR setup from scratch all over again. I am unsure yet if i am going to be able to boot into windows with old HDD on new motherboard. Is there a way i can copy over my setting (channels other setting) by copying the npvr folder thats on the HDD, if i need to re-install windows. If anyone could let me know what i should do. Most interested in not having to rescan all channels again.

Thanks
HTPC Server: 2.3gh AMD Quad 9600, 4GB ram, 320gb HDD, 1TB HDD, and 750GB External USB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 8600gt, Win 7 (32bit), (2x) HVR2250 using QAM

If you keep the same folder structures and the tuners are picked up in the same order a copy of the database could work, after doing the full install up to the creation of the database.

I have done this and it worked. Don't forget there are TWO NPVR folders - the \program files one can be ignored (afair), it is the \users\public\npvr one that counts. I'm fairly sure all I did was a new install of NPVR and copied from my backups the database, config.xml file and some entries in the scripts directory I had made. It may well work if after the fresh install, stop the service, rename the \users\public\npvr to something else and copy over your old directory.

Plenty of copies of the old files is well worth it!.

p.s. Windows 7 seems much better at restoring to new hardware than earlier versions.
