I have tried both GBPVR and NextPVR and neither will find any of Suddenlink QAM Channels. I tried Windows Media Center and it finds them all but can not get Channel Guide for my area. I need someway to get PVR to use the channels the Windows found or to find them using PVR anyone have any suggestions? I dont mind if it takes a bit of work I just need to get it finished or I might have to go back to a standard DVR and I would really miss the extra functions of this superior software. Thanks in advance.

1) don't bother with GB-PVR at this point... few remember enough about it to help you, and it's QAM tuning is no different than NextPVR's so there's no advantage for you.

2) in NextPVR, try scanning with "default cable frequencies" and "HRC cable frequencies"

3) if neither scan yields your channels, post your logs in a new thread in the NextPVR support forum. make sure you list your tuner device as well (hint: not all tuners that claim QAM support will work that way with NextPVR, because there is no exact standard method for switching the tuner from 8VSB demodulation to QAM... the fact that it works in media center is a good sign though, many tuners with this sort of problem provide QAM support only in the crap software bundled with the tuner)

To try to keep up with the herd I have completely uninstalled WIN TV 7 and GPPVR. Scrubbed all registries done a clean boot -- reinstalled Win TV 7 fo rthe drivers then installed NEXT PVR. It scans and seems to find the channels OK but I cant be sure since it wont play any of them. No matter what I do NextPVR Recording service will not start. There is not log file that I can find (save filtercheck.log) I have since installed the latest patch still to no avail. When I try to start the service I get only this

If anyone can offer any advice I would appreciate it.

for help with npvr please post in npvr support forum. however, your problem probably has something to do with the way the service is installed. I suggest you open a elevated command prompt and run:
Code:
sc delete "NPVR Recording Service"
then re-install.

Did you install NextPVR into the standard location, on a Windows install on C:\?

I seem to remember some users getting an error like that when using other drives.

Yes it installed into C:\Program Files (x86)\NPRV

I will also try the SC uninstall recommended in the prior post thanks

SC OpenService FAILED 1060:
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

Is there a clean way to completely uninstall NPVR and start Over?

I'm assuming that's a typo in your post, not the really the directory you used. I assume you mean C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR.

Try starting a command prompt with 'run as administrator', change to the C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR, then run:

nrecord.exe UNINSTALL
nrecord.exe INSTALL

Those parameters are case sensitive
