That should work. UK HD broadcasts use an unusual format for audio. Your TV will need to support HE-AAC ... does the TV receive broadcast HD channels ?

Plus, lots of folk use XBMC devices as NextPVR clients. I've seen mention of everything from a Raspberry Pi on up.

TV receives both terrestrial freebies HD and Freesat HD.

Had some problems last night with NPVR. I've scanned the channels and epg data. Managed to set two recordings but when I come to play them back via an RDP session onto the server using NPVR I get an error message pop up that refuses to go away when I press Continue. I'll try and capture the exact message tonight. In the meantime I've tried setting a recording using the tuners TV Centre software. I'll see how successful that recording is when I get home late tonight.

I also, on occasion, get red warning text on the settings menu screen that direct x (n) isn't installed. But not every time I enter this menu. So also need to check if that is/isn't installed on my server.

Saw your name in the post and remembered it well. I moved to NextPVR some years ago now after frying the powersupply in my toppy trying to upgrade the disk (long story short I was testing the disk connection as I was going ide to sata and had it balanced on the box while testing only to have it tip and oh so gently touch the innards....)

I've had great fun with NextPVR and people on this forum are similar to those on the Toppy one. The system has a lot of capability too and for me is potentially more reliable that even the toppy was, even with some of the windows level stuff I'm doing on it too. I did have to drop down from 8 tuners to 4 to get that stable, although I'm convinced that was the quality of some of the cards. Sure beats the toppies two, and NextPVR can access the rest of the stream in the same way the toppy could.

Give it a go, I'm sure you'll have fun.

Hmmm, it's stopped working. Both on the server and from my laptop??? The server copy appears to have reset itself to all the defaults. Have now changed them back to my original selection. Will see how it goes from here.

Also, NPVR doesn't appear as a server to my TV or the PS3. So I'm guessing it's not a DLNA app?
