Need a new HDMI capture card for nextpvr

My Colossus 2 gave up the ghost today so I need something new. It's a real pain dealing with an internal card. Would the HD PVR 2 be of the way to go or would something else be better in conjunction with nextpvr? Thanks

Depends on the OS platform, if you need an integrated blaster and whether you want AC3 or not. The Chinese IP based HDMI h264 encoders don't have the video quality of the HDPVR or do AC3 but mine is quite stable.

Also check kijiji. I regularly see HDPVR's for around $30 CDN You might get a Colossus cheap too.

So the original model would be okay as well? I'm a little reluctant to order used, I just checked eBay and I see some prices that aren't too bad but no guarantees that they work. Amazon wants $188 which seems very excessive for the 1512 model.

Actually the Amazon price looks to be the cheapest buying new.

The 1212 doesn't use HDMI so not quite the same. The HDPVR has never been cheap new, if you are in the US I think the Hauppauge store has always been competitive.

I ended up going with Amazon after all because I could get a three-year warranty fairly cheap and I like their return policy in case it doesn't work out for me. I just hope I can transfer my channel information from the Colossus to the new device in NextPVR.
