Hi All,

I see under the recordings configuration there are 2 available options for matching titles:
- Match exact title
- Match Start of title.

Those of you from NZ will probably know the issue i'm having - in that Freeview (or TVNZ / Mediaworks) - have recently starting prefixing all the new season episodes with "All New" - and as such i would miss recording new season stuff unless i set another recurring link to the name "All New .... "

If i set the match start of title - then it would pick up every 'All New ... ' programme, of which there are a few at the moment.
If i set exact title - then i have to add another entry (which i have done if i remember).

Not really sure of how to get around this other than maybe a 3rd option of a *title* type wildcard? I don't know how achievable that would be.

Just curious to hear how everyone else handles this - if they do at all.

There was a thread earlier this year about this - I don't think there was a conclusion though.

find one of the episodes of the show. Create an "All Episodes, All Channels" recurring recording. Now find that recording at the end of the recurring recordings list, select "Update". Go to the "Advanced Rules" field. where it says title like 'All New:Show' backspace over it (sorry, can't edit) and change it so it reads title like '%Show%' (don't forget the single quotes) and then select OK. The %'s are wildcards, so it will match whether or not the show title has "All New:" before it or some other text after it (like an episode title as part of the title). It will immediately reschedule all recordings based on your changes, so you can check the Pending list and see if all are scheduled as you intended.

(also, if you want the recording restricted to a single channel, you can change the channel while you're updating it. don't worry about the date/start/end times, they're ignored for this recording type)

(by the way, you can also create this sort of recording from scratch using the Man-Rec option in the hidden menu on the recording screen; however I find starting by creating the "All Episodes, All Channels" recording is much easier)

@sub,

while we're on the subject, could you make the Advanced Rules field more easily editable with a visible cursor that moves with the <- -> arrow keys?

If you remind me when we start looking at the next release, then yes I can try to improve it.

I'll add it to my infamous "list of grievances" which had been whittled down to nothing but now has a small handful of items.
