What TV Guide are you using? Schedules Direct and mc2xml seem to be the most common ones in North America.

Have you tried typing? You'd be better off getting the guide working though, so you don't have to resort to manual recordings.

To be honest, I have no guide. In seven years of using pc's to record tv I have never used a guide. Always set my shows up manually. I will see about installing one of the two you suggest.

In most countries outside North America there is usually a broadcast EPG available, allowing the app to get the guide automatically from the broadcast. Unfortunately that's not the case in your part of the world. There you'd typically need to either pay $25 a year for Schedules Direct, or use mc2xml which "acquires" listings intended to be used with Windows Media Center.

If you don't want to use a guide, you can use manual recordings.

Yes, I think the manual method will work out just fine for me. That's the way I've been doing it for years with Hauppauge's simple scheduler for analog TV capture and even with BTV. Never had the guide there either.

My shows are on the same time/same channel daily since they are mostly local news programs.

Can you check my follow up post under Wish List. Would be interested in your thoughts.
