In my area, only appx. 10 hours of reliable OTA EPG data is provided for several of the major ATSC broadcast networks. The EPG data itself is of good quality, and coupled with TheTVDb data is more than adequate for my purposes, so I'd like to continue to try and avoid a subscription or XMLTV-based EPG. Is it possible to trigger two or more EPG updates on a daily basis? Can config.xml be modified or a batch file created to accomplish this?

call nextpvr.exe -updateepgonly from a batch file or scheduled task. try to schedule it when no recordings are likely to be in progress.

Honestly, that's not enough data for effective use as a PVR. I'd really suggest you take another look at getting proper EPG data.

That said, you can run "nextpvr.exe -updateepg" to perform an EPG update.

EDIT: what he said...

You can start a manual update via the System plugin too, if that's any help.

Thanks, guys, Worked well for the past few days, but you're right; not effective for PVR. I took a look at my choices and ultimately bit the bullet and subscribed to Schedules Direct.

I'm sure you'll find it $20 (or whatever it is these days) well spent.
