Problem with path substitution

Great, I can't explain it either, perhaps a timing thing. It is true that when Kodi path substitution works the logs only show the original source. Only on error would you see smb url against the error in the video player code. not x-newa.

Enclosed is KODI log with substitution using server name instead of IP address.

The log seems very different with no mention of the file being accessed via http but also only one mention of SMB:-

DEBUG: CSMBFile::Open - opened D/Agatha Christies 13 at Dinner/Agatha Christies 13 at Dinner_20111217_16051755.ts, fd=10000

As things looked very promising I started a recording and started playing the file a minute later and it played much more than the minute it would have previously played.

Thanks Martin that seems to have cured the problem! It seems an odd solution as usually using the IP address tends to reduce problems.

I have just cured the same problem by the same method. I have OpenElec running on a NUC and the NextPVR service now runs on Windows 10. I think the path substitution was working fine when the server was Windows 7 but now path substitution only works if I replace the server IP address with the actual hostname in advancedsettings.xml, as jcjefferies found.
