Live buffer in RAM

Maybe it would be good idea to use small RAM buffer when directory is not specified.
It's not rare that users are not aware of RAM disks...
is it stupid to build a HTPC with a SSD drive only?:confused:

actual ram [ramdrive] is not big enough for suitable livetv temp dir...several gigabytes are needed, but an ssd is totally fine...[not really a 'ramdrive']
i would suggest a drive with at least 30 gigs free for livetv buffer..

yes, unless a user has gobs of RAM, it likely just isn't big enough. The user who really does have so much RAM can go ahead and configure a ram disk.

can that user use 4 GB of RAM for entire mux(or use shared/exclusive buffer only on selected channels in column next to EPG)?

But no need for large buffer in case of HTTP streaming - NPVR can use own memory(additional 50-100 MB)
