recording and viewing at the same time

I have just moved from wmc to nextpvr, all good so far except a few epg problems, but one difference I have noticed is if you are recording on one channel and you want to watch the next one when it starts, with wmc to can just click on the channel you are recording a few minutes before the next one starts and it plays in real time so you don't miss the beginning of the next programme (especially useful if you have padding at the end of the recording). however with nextpvr if you try this you go to the recording and it starts from the beginning. Is there a way of enabling it to watch the channel in real time whilst still recording?

You could just select Play on the next show as soon as it starts. Another workaround would be to start live tv on another channel and then change to the actual channel, but if you have only one tuner you'll need to find a channel on the same mux (frequency).

My suggestion would be to record all of the shows that you want to watch. You can switch to play a pending recording within seconds of the pending recording beginning to record.

it's not obvious from the UI but in the TV Guide the Play button on the remote (or Ctrl-P on the keyboard) always starts a Live TV session on the selected channel, regardless of whether the current show is being recorded or not.

It's only in the details pop-up for a show that the available option changes from "Watch" (for live tv) to "Play" (for a recording). I've sometimes thought both options ought to be available, but there is such a thing as too many buttons.

thanks johnsonx42 that solves the problem, I think it would be better if the details just gave you the option to watch, as if you wanted to start from the beginning of the recording you can access it by going to recordings and then play.
