Android Playback Failing

Hi,

Are others able to get Android playback to work? I'm using Kodi on Android 5.1.1, and I can get all around, see my Recordings in NextPVR ... but when I go to play them, just nothing happens. If the recording is in process, I even get the Resume / start over option, but either one doesn't do anything. No hang, just no video.

Thoughts?

You need a device that suports mpeg-ts in h/w (you can lay with the various options in Kodi) and many people need h/w deinterlacing for 1080i.

I will answer your question as yes and no depending on the Android device I've used and the networks speed I've had.

Hi,

Makes sense - and I could be wrong, but based on Mx Player Pro I think I have HW decoding, but I could definitely be wrong! The file looks to be ac3 audio, and "mpeg2video" ... does that mean H.262? If so, that may be the issue, as this page seems to say that H.262 is not supported? http://developer.android.com/guide/appen...rmats.html

I thought Kodi would transcode and HTTP stream, but I admit - really not sure there.

No Kodi is not a transcoding server, it is not really a server at all. Try Plex or Emby. Some Android devices do have a chip with h/w mpeg-ts.

Makes sense, thanks! Was thinking that, but others seem to be using Kodi - I think they are using already transcoded video though.

Working on Plex, just want to get the NextPVR channel to allow resume (in playback) - I'll get it going though ... .

Just because you have MX Player with h/w support doesn't mean you have it configured properly in Kodi. However you should be able determmine if you can play recordings with MX Player and then you will know what is possible.
