I'm having trouble getting my epg to populate any data. I'm using mc2xml to pull the information. The bat file and the TVGUIDE.xml look correct, but the guide is still blank. I've mapped all my channels and manually updated the epg but all my channels still show "no show detail". I've spent the last several hours trying to troubleshoot this, but I haven't solved it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

which data source are you using for mc2xml? the legacy microsoft service is dead and stopped providing new data months ago. You can .zip and post your TVGUIDE.xml file if you want us to verify it's got current data.

I thought mc2xml quit working in July? Are the dates in your xml file current or from long ago?

Edit: Oh, never mind, Johnson did it. Hey Johnson, what happened to that nice sticky about this?

I got rid of it since MC2XML has been updated with additional data sources and the site makes clear that the legacy microsoft service is no longer useful in the US. I felt that by mid-october, or whenever it was, that anyone who had been using the legacy microsoft service had already sorted out a different data source, and any new user would know not to use it. Perhaps someone has managed to ignore the available info and is trying to use the legacy service anyway, or perhaps someone's problem is something else. Either way, this sort of problem is almost invariably due to having old data in the .xml file for one reason or another. I continue to be annoyed whenever I offer help to MC2XML users, since the only truly right answer in my view is "use Schedules Direct", but for some reason I help anyway.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was using legacy. When I saw program data in the TVGUIDE.xml, I thought it was still working but it must just be old data.

Thanks again.

Well what with the infinitude of WinX switchovers, I'd imagine it's going to continue for quite some time. And I liked your sticky.

The NextPVR Wiki still gives information on setting up mc2xml using microsoft legacy.

People probably don't read all the fine print on the mc2xml web page.

your file only has data from mid-July. the one-way nature of time prevents you from recording those programs now.
