Hi ALL,

Well, I deleted channels I don't use and ran the Update EPG and it finished and I got data for all the channels. The one that I thought didn't have OTA info did get data but only a few hours but I could live with that.

I have a couple of other questions:

1. I've been working on my desktop PC but I have another smaller Dell Zino PC as an HTPC hooked to my TV. It has a Hauppauge HVR-950Q USB tuner running with Win Media Center on Win 7. I also want to go to Win 10 here and will then install NextPVR. Does NPVR depend on any files that would have been installed from Hauppauge's WinTV software as I lost the install CD and would rather not have to buy another. If I upgrade to Win 10 then Install NextPVR will it work correctly with the HVR-950Q without any Hauppauge software.

2. The Dell Zino came with an IR remote which has worked with WMC and I believe its a MCE remote as it has the "green" button. If I do the above will this remote work with NPVR?

3. When NPVR starts can you force it to start in full screen mode?

Well, I think that's it for now.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!

If you're talking digital channels (ATSC/QAM), then no it doesn't need anything from WinTV.

If you're wanting to do analog, then yes, it reuses the softpvr components installed with WinTV.

(If you still had the CD, it can be useful to have WinTV installed, since it'll give you more installed decoder options)

It don't know. Maybe.

You can tick the 'start in fullscreen mode' checkbox on the Settings->General screen.

Hi sub,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I looked at most of the Settings but didn't see the Fullscreen option. A follow up question if you don't mind. Once NPVR is running full screen is there any way to bring it back to a smaller window. In WinTV, once its full screen if you hit ESC it reverts back to a smaller window. Is there something similar with NPVR?

Thanks again for all your help!

Like a lot of Windows applications, you can press Alt-Enter to toggle back and forth between window and fullscreen mode.

Alt+Enter toggles between full screen and window modes.

Alex

Hi ALL,

Well, I got it running pretty well and even tried a scheduled recording and it worked fine. The only thing that isn't working that great is the guide and I know its the fault of the OTA channels and some of them lacking the programming info. I know $25 per year is not all that much but I would still like to try and get the info for free. I tried "zap2xml" and my Norton Security had a fit saying it had a Trojan something-or-other. I also followed a link someone else posted in this thread for another XML generator and it also was flagged with the same malware by Norton.

So my last question (at least for today!!) is there any free utility that can generate the programming data that is safe to run?

Thanks again to everyone for all your help!!

Other than the crappy OTA ATSC guide nfo no. All the non-SD solutions I am aware require you to either break copyright or terms of use agreements so you aren't safe in a legal sense.

Norton reports a false positive. https://www.virustotal.com/fr/file/2f5c8.../analysis/

On http://zap2xml.awardspace.info/ the download link http://phatic.tk/?h=ftsave2 gives you a file that you open with 7-zip to extract the exe file.
