Hey all,
I desperately need the "MCE Replacement Driver" for Vista / Win7 as I wish to use the very old MceIrPlay.exe / MceIrPlay.exe on a Win7 32bit system and of course the old XP driver doesn't work.

It's not anywhere on this forum (dead attachments), it's not even as a stray soft on google, it's not on mediaportal either or anwhere I could reach.

Would someone be super kind and upload it somewhere or attach it here?

Thank you VERY MUCH in advance!

You might try a PM to pBS as he is still around the forum. Perhaps he still has the files.

that driver is obsolete, it was buggy back in the day and using MS driver is wayy better for sleep modes and just works better..
now you can choose from several other softwares to use with ir hardware..
what are you trying to do with that old driver?

IRSS has command line apps also...Smile
what are you trying to do with it?
IRSS can blast as well, and has command line access apps that actually work..

trust me, that driver and apps were really unreliable and cryptic.. people came up with an alternative really quickly after that..

Thanks for your reply and the headsup regarding IRSS.
I would like first to try the old driver in any case, if you have it please, please link me.
Thank you.
edit: besides the "IR Server Suite - Test Build" attachments are also dead..

also, you may want to try MCERemoteMapper.exe as it requires no software, it remaps existing ms keys commands..
do you need blasting? irss does it much better...this driver/app only replays raw ir data, irss 'understands' the codes it receives so is much faster and more reliable..
plus you don't have to bypass MS functionality to use it..Smile [which may break certain things]

pBS, I solely need blasting, I was on XP 32bit with the original MceIR for years, with my own raws (for Sony HDTV "theatre mode" and a few other specific items).
I do not need an 30megs solution + installing .NET 4 for this sole purpose.
So please link me to the old driver if you still have it, or do I have to implore you? Tongue

irss is only 4 meg tho it does need .net4..which isn't usually a problem when so much else needs that..
plus i think old driver went defunct because of security updates to windows 7 not allowing anything but services to communicate w the hardware.
probably why noone has it out there anymore..only really useful for xp and isn't exactly easy to setup..
so you just need the alt driver itself?
it isn't even made for 7, you have to use vista driver..[hence not able to get past new security in 7]
read this:

https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threa...ver.29024/
Quote:I should also have mentioned that there are limitations that I've found with the Replacement Driver compared to the default eHome driver. Firstly, the Replacement Driver doesn't handle suspend/resume very well. And secondly, the Vista default driver is much better at dealing with learning and blasting IR. Thirdly, the replacement driver won't work with some of the newer Vista MCE remote devices.
