I have two SilicondDust HD Homerun connect units for my set up. That gives me four tuners. I was watching live TV the other day and a message popped up that said something like "the tuner I was on was needed for a recording." I was so surprised I did not write it down exactly or just what I clicked on, but I did shut down the live TV. After a few seconds I started live TV and it played just fine. Later I noticed the recording that was scheduled had finished.
Well the question with three tuners not in use, why did the upcoming recording need the one I was on? It had three others to pick from. ???

Hard to guess really - you'd need to supply the logs. It can get complicated, like looking forward at what's coming up on other tuners that recording could have been moved to.

Event took place about 1800 hrs on 2-13-2014. Was watching live and a recording wanted to start. One other program was scheduled that night at 2100. The first scheduled was finished an hour before.

your NPVR/NRecord logs don't cover that time period, so there's no way to see what went wrong. I can see that it had nothing to do with a recording starting though, that message is the front-end's default message whenever it loses a live tv lease from the back-end.

(the ndigitalhost logs do tell me that you were using tuner 41 for Live TV, which started at 18:07 on CBS; you watched until about 18:53:17, when you lost the LIVE TV lease; you restarted Live TV on the same channel at 18:53:34 which used the same tuner, and you watched for 5 more minutes. Meanwhile the only active recording was running on tuner 43, from 18:30-19:00 (NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt). clearly some glitch which disrupted live tv happened at around 18:53:17, but there's no way to know what it was)

Well, if it ever happens again, I will document it better and get the logs at the time of the event.

Are you getting the error in NextPVR or Kodi which you might be using for playback. In Kodi the message is extremely misleading it can mean any error and you need to include the Kodi.log too.

Playback in NextPVR only. Kodi only on my tablet and used very little.
