Hi guys.

I have been using NVPR for a few years now without any issues.. but for some reason, I have recently been experiencing stuttering on live TV but the strange thing is it only does it when the NVPR window is in the foreground.
If I click on the desktop or open up the NVPR settings window so that the live stream is in the background.. it plays fine.

Obviously this doesn't work while in full-screen mode.

I have re-installed the latest version but It has done this since version 3.5.7

I also don't think it is the video that is stuttering.. but the client itself is freezing slightly as the right click menu takes a while to pop up.

So I thought it was probably my AV software but disabling it has no effect.

Cheers! Smile

Is it the same playing recordings, or just on live tv?

I am curious how live TV works for the default guide with TV Listing plugin disabled.

Just recorded something to check and it works fine. I should also mention I moved my buffering folder from a mechanical drive to a SSD and it didn't help.

Cheers

Some people have issues with audio renderers that can cause stuttering. Maybe temporarily try disabling all the audio decoders other than the one you need, to see if the stutter goes away.

Happened to me, the problem with me was audio decoder. try switching audio decoder to AC3filter. I tried about every codec I could and had this stuttering problem with one, and some would just fall behind. Then finally found AC3filter and set it as audio decoder and haven't had an issue since.

With the stuttering what looked like what was happening was the audio was out running the video, then when the decoder would try to sync it after so far off and then I would get smooth audio but like 12FPS. Live though. Were other decoders the video just lagged behind, this would keep up but stutter. Anyways the decoder fixed it. I think it ws just a sync thing.

Thanks Sub, you were right about that. As is maxpower097. The audio was always fine.. it was just the video that lagged. But did you also notice it worked fine when the NVPR window wasn't in the foreground?
I just changed the audio decoders around from LAV to a different one and it stopped doing it.. but I also put them all back to LAV and it still works fine!

Max, do you mean disable all except AC3 under the "decoders" settings?

Cheers

No I downloaded a decoder called AC3filter. Then I went into settings > Decoder > and basically set them all to AC3Filter or MS's. I also used LAV, FFDV?, and a few more but at most a week went by and audio issues started happening again. So I found this AC3Filter decoder in a free decoder pack and its worked for like 2 months with no audio issue at all. Before LAV would work a week, then get a delay. Or FFDV would intermitently delay then be ok. But on all of the decoders they recorded properly and I just watched them in VLC. But changing my mpg2 decoder to Elecard and AC3 decoder to AC3Filter fixed all my issues permanently. So if you do get a delay give that one a whirl. You can get all these decoders in a all in 1 pack from a legit site. But this is the combination my system prefers as decoders and doesn't give any errors, delays, or skipping. My only issue with NPVR is I can't set recordings in Kodi. I have to set all my recordings in NPVR. All recordings are playable in client kodi. But I just can't set them to record in Kodi guide.

Thanks Max! I think simply changing to any decoder and back again works and it seems like it flushes the system somehow.. maybe a cache that isn't being cleared by itself?? I will look into the AC3 ones you mentioned if this is only a temporary fix though. I usually only change/install codecs as a last resort.. we all know how much trouble it can cause! And as you say.. everyone's machine has its own taste when it comes to codecs.

Cheers! Smile
