Mainly posting this here for future reference for myself and obviously to help anyone else that might stumble upon the same issue I had.

I recently had to rebuild my NextPVR server, and in doing that I decided to add a second Colossus card as well as a second Dish Network HD receiver. And that is where the fun began. How Hauppauge hasn't figured out how to address more than one capture card for their IR blasting still remains a mystery to me, but no worries. Doing a quick google search, I came upon this most excellent write-up IR Server Suite (IRSS) Channel Changer Guide. Most excellent work by BTJustice for sure, so thanks. I had a spare MCE receiver/blaster lying around, so off I went to get two functioning colossus cards complete with IR control.

Where I would add my little portion to this already excellent guide is this:

1: After installing IRSS and checking that it does recognize the IR receiver/blaster you are wanting to use, immediately restart your computer. This threw me off for quite a long time because Translator would not work at all. I saw a few references in my search of Translator "failing to learn IR" immediately, and this was the case with me. Restarting fixed all of these issues. I also used the most recent IRSS download that I could find, so no issues with the version as far as I could tell.

2: This definitely applies to Dish Network receivers (possibly others as well), and was something I just happened to remember from my SageTV days: Dish Network IR codes are multiples. So, when in Translator and learning a new digit, press the button in twice in quick succession. This gets both of the IR hex codes learned.

3: Test each digit with Translator after entering it. Yeah, this was something that I failed to do initially, so my IR was failing. Once I tested each button, I figured out which ones weren't working and got it all sorted out.

4: I did quite a bit of enabling/disabling colossus cards in the NextPVR settings while going through this. I'd recommend a restart of the system every time after making changes to this. Things kept getting strange when I wouldn't restart, so once I decided to add this step, I could keep track of where I was failing much easier.

All in all, I only scratched my head in disbelief a few times during the few hours I spent getting this sorted out. You have a super nice piece of software here Sub, and I'm rather grateful to be using it right now.
