I recorded a 1 hour show (antenna src) and for the last 7.5 minutes of the recording, the video was unwatchable. I was watching it on my TV so the reception was fine during recording.

I did have a show "butt" up against it and that recording was unwatchable. I scheduled the second show while the first one was recording. I left the padding default so could this be the problem ? The first show had a 2 minute post padding and the next show had a 1 minute pre pad.

Thanks,

-Tito

It would seem that overlapping (including padding) causes back-to-back shows to not record properly. I tried setting the padding to 0 on the end of the first and the beginning of rhe second and it worked.

The recievers in TVs are generally stronger than those in TV cards. Regular TV are usaully able to do better with a weaker signal. Sounds like that is what happened.

Could you have something like defrag or another auto-run app kicking in? It would seem possible if it's not happening for 1/2hr programs.

Next time it happens, keep running, and alt-tab to go windowed, and check your tray. Also ctrl+alt+del and look as processes list and see what else is using resources.

Thanks for the responses guys. I believe the problem occurs when I schedule back-to-back programs without adjusting the padding properly. I assumed GB-PVR would take care of it. My believe is that the pre-padding of the 2nd show started trying to record while the 1st show was still recording. When I set the post-padding to 0 on the first show and the pre-padding on the second show to 0, I didn't have any problems. I will experiment some more.
