Just upgraded to Windows 10 and having a few issues.

As a test, I sent in and selected Quick Record on a show to test recording. The show turned red in the program guide, but I noticed the "n" logo in the task bar did not turn red like it did previously. Also, the show did not show up as "Recording" in the Recordings list. Then, I went to cancel the recording and got an error message: Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8968.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Is the recording service running? If not, and you start it, does it stay running, and does it then work?

I right-clicked on the "n" logo and clicked Restart recording service.

I got the following error:

Does the nrecord.exe process start when you try doing it? Does a nrecord.log get created at the time your try starting it?

Oops, I see I did that wrong... I found Start Service and ran that... now it's recording.

Thanks for the help!

It would pay to check if it starts automatically for you after a reboot as it wouldn't on either of my machines after updating to W10-64...... there is a thread somewhere around with a number of users with this same issue & the fix/hack (posted in that thread) that has been working for me is

Quote:1) Change the startup type to Automatic (Delayed Start).
2) Set the recovery options to restart the service on the first and second failures, reset the count after 1 day and restart the service after 1 minute.

Automatic (Delayed Start) waits 2 minutes (default) after all the other Automatic services have started.

These settings should give the system time to settle down after startup, and may help in the case of other failures.
I don't recommend changing the option for subsequent failures, that could cause severe problems in the case of a genuine fault.

I also had issues with my NMT's even after getting the Recording service started that was to do with sharing & all I did to fix it was turn sharing on under advanced sharing options & away it went.

Can I ask you to elaborate on that as I am indeed having issues with my NMT's... where is the "advanced sharing options", and what specifically did you change?

Click on the network icon (down by the clock)
select Network Settings
select Change Advanced Sharing Options
from memory I selected All Networks & then
Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read & write files in public folders
Turn off Password Protected Sharing

That got me to the point where the NPVR menu is displayed and working. Thanks!

However if I go into Recordings and try to play back a show, I get just a black screen for about a minute, after which the NPVR screen reappears. No shows are playing back, however. Playback works just fine on the desktop (I've got a similar thread going in the NMT sub-forum for this issue... if it would be better that I just abandon this one here at this point, I will.)
