When it comes to directly importing .ts files, this is really only intended to importing NextPVR recordings from an NTFS drive (these types of recordings have extra metadata embedded in them, and the import process reads that metadata to reconstruct the recording).

UPDATE: Sorry, a problem fixed with the new webserver clock has caused the rest of the posts in this thread to be in the future, so things are out of order...

Hi, I've looked at this http://nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Co...diaFolders

I have a fully working [video] directory d:\npvr\video\correctlynamedfolders\recordings.ts
Both appear in Npvr and Newa correctly.

I have created a [music] d:\npvr\music\
I have created a [radio] d:\npvr\radio\

I have my old recordings in those directories, also have two brand new recordings created by the current version of Npvr there as well.

In both Npvr or Newa no recordings are shown, the folders are all correctly there.

I have checked the working video folder with that of the music and radio for permissions etc.. but I can't seem to see anything wrong.

So question is: what am I missing here?

Thanks in anticipation of a pointer or two.

The recording list is not derived from looking at a directory structure. Instead it uses the list of recordings in the database.

If you want these extra files to appear as recordings, you'd need to provide an xml file with the list of recordings, and any metadata (like name/subtitle/description etc), and use the 'Import Recordings' button in the settings screen. You can either do this by manually constructing an xml file using C:\Users\Public\NPVR\recording-backup.xml as an example, or I think there is a utility in the wiki which will create this type of file. Alternatively you can manually import individual .ts files using the 'Import Recordings' button, and pointing at a .ts file.

If these recordings were from a previous install of NextPVR on another machine, maybe you still have it's C:\Users\Public\NPVR\recording-backup.xml file? That'd be the easiest way to get them back in the database.

There is also a utility called vidimport which will generate an .xml file from files found in a directory tree.

there's an old batch file for this also that I post up from time to time. I have no recollection as to who wrote it; I'm not even sure I ever knew even when I first got it. You run this from whatever directory you want to start in, and it will build an .xml file with all .ts files it finds, along with any metadata there may be. My recollection is that it does work with files that have no metadata, it just puts the filename as the show name.

(NextPVR doesn't import any files that already exist in the database, so you can run it against your regular recording folder to pick up orphaned/restored/moved files)

Thanks for all your posting.

I had written a full reply to you all but was not aware that I was timed-out and loss the lot, the saved element was unintelligible.

So briefly now I used the RecordingRecovery script (not sure about pvrx2.exe) but it did create the xml list.

Followed Sub import, told me it imported 69, click ok, restarted npvr service but nothing changed.

In my post I said I did two test recordings 14th Aug they are in the recording-backup.xml but do not show either.

I have several other nagging 'issues' so would it be best to go back to build 1511 or Win7, XP for my Npvr server, it is not used for anything else?

I've also screw the Newa TV recordings as it won't function unless I give it WAN access so I will now have to use RDP to set the recording for now on, no big deal.

The settings-plugin ticked boxes don't always remain ticked

The Newa Config-login tab goes AWOL from time to time (not yet worked out how this 'auto-login' works) Set 192.168.0.0/24 class C private address but is always asked for user/password unless this is the design feature?

Thank to you all for your help especially Sub for his hard work

still having problems here posting, can't type any quicker!!!
