Hello everyone.

I am setting up NextPVR and was looking at the time shifting options. Can someone please tell me the difference between time-based and EPG-based time shifting? I looked around the forum but could not find anything. Thank you in advance.

If you use epg based live TV and you record the show the part that has been watched will be save too. Time based will just start recording the show from the current location.

So to make sure I understand, epg based will allow me to pause, rewind, and fast forward live tv if I have been on the chanel long enough to do so but time based will inly let me do that if I press record first?

No they both allow time shifting. Recordings will be different and the time based option only gives 20 minutes of buffer by default.
