Creators Update breaks NPVR - no GUI

Hi -

For many months I've used NPVR w/o issues but MS insisted I needed Creators Update. Now the NPVR GUI doesn't run. When I start it, "NextPVR (32bit)" is shown in Task Manager under Processes for about 2 sec. then it disappears.

The GUI never appears on screen. I have uninstalled/reinstalled twice but it didn't help.

Using the NTray icon, I'm able to view the NPVR Settings page and all looks normal, but w/o the GUI I'm trapped between a rock and a hard place!

I've attached two sets of log files - one captured after re-installation but prior to attempting to run the GUI, the second set after trying to start the GUI. Also attached is my config file.

Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to help me out here.

Dave

Thanks for the reply.

I didn't have much time, but found the attached errors in Event Viewer.

Hope this will help.

It is crashing in the video drivers have you tried updating them?

Also your screen resolution shows as

2017-04-18 10:10:54.829 [DEBUG][1] Rendering for screen size: 1536x864

If you have a zoom setting of 125% to make 1920x1080 maybe try lowering it to 100%

You could also try running "NextPVR -no3d", or disabling animations in the Settings screen.

Thanks both for your help.

My display settings were 1090x1080 @100% - I tried playing around with these but it made no difference.

I have no idea what the "Rendering for screen size: 1536x864" is all about.

I did find Intel graphics driver released just last month but couldn't install them Got a "computer does not support..." error.

Disabling animations didn't help either.

Right now I don't have time to pursue the issue so I've backed out of the Creators update and all is fine for the time being.

Since I can no longer test anything out, you may as well close out the thread as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks again.

I've had huge problems this week but haven't had time to even look at the issues.

I run NextPVR as a server on a Windows 10 machine and have a mini itx client machine hooked up my TV. This isn't yet updated.

I've found the NPVR application to crash a few times on the Windows 10 machine when I've gone to look at it, and recordings aren't happening at the right time. Shows this week have started recording about 8-9 mins late (and the recording times in recordings reflect this) despite the reoccurring recordings showing the correct times.

I probably should have posted a little more about my experiences, but simply haven't had time to debug things. My point was mainly that this update is causing issues.

I too had the very same issue with the GUI not appearing after updating. It would work after a PC reboot but after a few hours NPVR would refuse to show on screen when run despite showing as running. After 3 or 4 reboots to try and fix other system related issue that the update had broken (which resulted in messages on every reboot saying Windows was installing further updates) the problem seemed to fix itself and the application now seems to be loading OK.
