Part of comskip is a dictionary used to scan closed captioning for certain keywords appearing in commercials. Can that really happen with GB-PVR? Is the closed captioning part of the MPEG2 file? If so, can GB-PVR display it?

Comskip can use the Closed Captions embedded in the MPEG stream to detect commercials (that's why there's a Comskip.dictionary file), but ONLY if the Closed Caption information is present. The only way that happens is if your capture card is configured to capture that data.

As to how to configure the capture card to capture that data, I have no clue. But I'm interested to learn how to do that as well :p

PVR250 drivers can be configured to capture CC information with the MPEG file. PVR150 drivers do not have this ability.

If they capture the CC information do they display it in the output stream too, or is it just embedded in the file? I have a PVR250 and would love to seem comskip do an even better job, but I am not interested in actually watching videos with cc information.

Also, how do you configure the PVR250 driver?

Thanks

I'll check it out. Thanks! Although, getting CC to work with a 150 looks like it'll be a problem.

When doing research on the enabling CC in the 250, I noticed one thing:

"There are two steps to capture the closed caption data, the first is to set the set the mpeg output-stream to 'DVD-Special 2'"

How does GB-PVR's recording profiles match up to this? Here's where I found the info:
