Nothing plays back on a newly created client. All of the files play fine on the server.
From the log, it appears that the client is trying to access the edl file using a path that is local to the server, not the client.

Am I supposed to use unc naming for the recording directory, even on the server when it's saving to a local drive?
Or am I barking up the wrong directory tree?

Jim

When it comes to anything other than .ts files, like the .mp4 you're trying to play, NextPVR is just asking Windows to choose a set of decoders etc to play the file. In your case, it looks like Windows doesn't have the things it needs to play .mp4 files. Try install installing the LAV filters from:
https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters...taller.exe

You also cannot play converted MP4 files through the recording screens.

Yep, good point. If you're going to use NextPVR's client/server support, you really need to stick to the .ts file format.

You can of course browse the video library to watch files on local paths on the client.

Just on the client right? Because the server plays them just fine.
Also, .ts file playback on the client has horribly garbled playback until you check the legacy ts box.

The client/server protocol is only designed to pass the types of files that NextPVR records. ie .ts. It would be complicated to add support other file types.

That said, you could look at the nlite client instead, which will play any file type on the client. It's easy to setup and run.
