Just come back from a month away, I chucked the latest build of 4.0.4 on just to see if it changed the new mux. Things are a lot better, seems stable but getting some artifacts. See the attached picture of my TV, the bottom approx 5 % is...err wonky.
All good on the legacy stuff so I'm happy, just thought I'd report/share.

Oh...wonkiness is not always there, perhaps 1 second in every 30 seconds of live TV, but not consistent or regular.

Do you see this same thing playing a recording? If so, can you supply a short sample recording?

Sorry - been a long time since my holiday and since this thread. Finally had a child and wife free night to look at this, and yes the issue persists through to recordings. I see a lot of general digital artifacts (also in the recording) but the band at the bottom of the screen is common, some channels are better than others though.

Attached are logs, a mobile blurry photo of screen with band at the bottom and also hopefully a link to a recording showing the same.

I see all the problems you describe with LAV and Reader4 so hopefully that will give sub a good start on this. With the MS decoder it seems fine if that is an option for you.

Elmo....

I had exactly the same problems you had, and I'm using Ceton as well. Issues were with many channels, but not all. I also threatened my cable folks (Comcast), but rationed that my other NPVR boxes had no problems. I too had upgraded to 4.0.4, and after many frustrating weeks, decided to go back to 3.9.2. Faulty channel issues continued, and maybe even got worse.

Running fully patched Win7 that got contaminated by a virus (very nasty). So, decided to just reinstall Win7 clean. After the reinstall, I installed 3.9.2 but couldn't do a bulk channel update, just as before. So, I installed 4.0.4, did the bulk update with it, and then immediately downgraded to 3.9.2. Had similar issues with codecs, screwed up video, blank screens, etc, etc.

So I scratched all of the NPVR stuff, and reinstalled 3.9.2. But this time found the 3.9.2 patches, and put them on (no 4.0.4 activity at all). Now, everything is working fantastically. It would appear that the 4.0.4 install left some contamination behind that wasn't replaced or addressed by the reinstall of 3.9.2....

As before, for recorded TS files, I'm using M$ DTV-DVD video decoder with SAF6's LAV audio decoders with AC3Filter. No issues.
