If I am around when the crash occurs, I would, but normally, it happens when my wife is using it, I don't find out until hours later.

That said, Kodi crashes are one thing, but Nextpvr not recognizing the crash is another. I am much more troubled by the later.

I find this is a particularly hard problem to debug and although I have seen it myself I cannot duplicate. I gave up on timeshift mode and exclusively use x-newa now to avoid the problem. Hopefully the debug kodi.old.log will be around the next time it happens for you.

http is stateless so recognizing a crash on the server is not as easy as it sounds.

2leftfeet, if you can find any steps to reproduce the error, let me know and we'll try to work through a fix with you testing it in your environment.

I've had numerous attempts at reproducing it, but never seen the problem myself.

Sub, to be honest, I have a hard time reproducing it myself, although my wife seems to be much better at it. The nature of the crashes are random and unpredictable.

To further complicate the diagnosis, depending on where within the house kodi is being used, the crash can occur on any one of four possible clients. This is why I have requested a modification of NTray to show the IP of the client requesting a stream - so that I know where to start looking - if a crash were to occur, I would know which client to caused it.

I am heading out of town until the middle of next week, but when i get back I will try to to stress kodi in various ways to see if I can force this to happen.

I was thinking that if you could implement something like a periodic "are you still alive ping" to the client requesting the stream and if no response was received after "x" attempts, then terminated the stream and free the tuner - might solve this issue.

Who knows what evil awaits us when Leia hits the streets?

"The nature of the crashes are random and unpredictable. "...........I Second that.
I've not been able to reproduce it and luckily for me it's infrequent. Fully understand the difficulty Sub/Martin in catching this one.
I've been using the software for years (right from early GBPVR days) and If I can capture the logs, I'll happily send. Having multiple Kodi boxes does create a lot of "spam" in the web log file.

Sub..... is there any way we can make the number of retained logs adjustable (for advanced users) via the config file?

Not currently, but I'll look into adding something for this.
