NextPVR client not working with OpenElec or xbian on a cubox-i4pro

As per the title, I've tried both openelec and xbian (latest available as of today) on a CuBox-i4Pro, and this is an extract from one of the log files:

No picture or audio. EPG works fine.

NextPVR is using an hauppage HDMI capture card for input (+ a DVB-T USB capture card)

Kodi with the NextPVR client works fine from a Windows PC so NextPVR itself should be setup correctly.

I used to have this partially working on Gotham? I think, but with stuttering during playback and I've kept putting off looking at this, until today with a clean build using the latest from xbian / openelec.

Any ideas?

Cubox's are junk for PVR use since they and don't have h/w deinterlacing so it likely has major problems with 1080i. Do you have 720p or 576i channels for a comparison.
