I have this file that NPVR recorded but won't play back. File is playable with AVS Media Player and AVS Video Editor but not VLC. Very strange.

Can one of the resident experts maybe take a look and advise? I can supply the scenario with which it was recorded.

I'm new with DropBox and did manage to upload the 450MB file but how do I tell you how to download?

Thanks.

Is there a button labelled Share to the right of the file in Dropbox? Press the Share button and you should see words to the effect of "Copy Link". Copy the link and then paste the link into a forum post.

I think this is the same thing discussed in this thread:
https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...ero-length

It looks like there is a bug in the HDHR / DCR firmware that can deliver an old PAT/PMT at the beginning of a stream. This updated NPVRWriter.ax should strip this garbage at the start recording while making the recording:
https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...post520979

Current versions of the reader should be able to play the file, like the updated NPVRTSReade4.ax here:
https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...post521004

With the current reader, your file played fine for me.

Thanks, sub. After the update, the file played for me too.

Just curious but could overlap on the same channel be contributing to seeing previous show's PAT/PMT, then when the PAT/PMT for the next show arrives, it's ignored in preference to the first show's PAT/PMT? Might explain why my overlapping scheme resulted in a zero byte file with no errors? See my post at https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...post520981

Thanks, again.

No. The PAT/PMT stays the same on a channel. You'd have to need to change to a different channel to get a different PAT/PMT.
