Hello,

I have an Empia 2875 ATSC tuner that I was using with NextPVR. It seems that the tuner has ceased working in NextPVR, and I'm looking for some help in getting it working again. I noticed that when I use the timeshifting or recording functionality, the resulting files are zero bytes long.

I also noticed that when I scan for channels now, no channels are found. Does anyone have any thoughts for what might be going wrong?

Have you got any other TV software you can check the device with, to confirm everything is in a functioning state?

The logs look like everything hooks up ok, with no errors, but the device never locks onto a signal for delivering data to NextPVR. Maybe check your antenna or splitters.

I don't currently have anything else to test with.... Do you have any suggestions for things that I could try?

I do have VLC, but I have not had any luck with using VLC against it; I have no idea what the correct frequency I should use for the channels.

My guess is your tuner is dead; I've had a couple of KWorld tuners that used that chip, they died long ago.

I used to use TSReader Lite to test tuners and get other interesting information from ATSC streams. https://www.tsreader.com/purchase/purcha...dlite.html

Thanks. How do I tell if it has indeed died completely? And what dies on it, if you happen to know?

If it is indeed dead, are there any recommendations for tuners (perhaps budget tuners?) that work well with NPVR (and that don't croak so easily)?

I don't think it's a NextPVR problem, but you'd probably need to check it in some other software to confirm whether or not it's working there. If the device is dead, it obviously wont work there either.

As mentioned, could also be your antenna, or a splitter.

Hauppauge tuners are good, and last well.

I have two Hauppauge tuners still going strong after 13 years of daily use.
